How to start the day when you have to work and focus?
Not always easy, right?
Some will say: take a cold shower, stretch, exercise, eat a good breakfast with fruits, and you’ll be set for the day.
That may be true. But it also assumes you slept early enough the night before and woke up feeling refreshed and motivated.
Let’s be honest: not everyone does. And still, we manage. Maybe not effortlessly, maybe not comfortably, but we do.
This morning, for instance, it was hard. Monday morning, of course.
I started with my usual cup of coffee. It helps a little, even if I’ve read it’s not great on an empty stomach, especially for women.
Still, I needed it.
And do you know what I listened to, to get things going?
“Bring Me to Life” by Evanescence. Dramatic? Yes. But effective.
That was the only thing that could push me to start doing something, and so I began writing this article.
Let’s say I’m not doing too bad.
Some mornings, I wake up exhausted and just lie there for a while. Yes, I admit it. I don’t jump out of bed like they say you should.
But eventually, I find my way back to the day.
When I go to the office, routine helps. I prepare my desk. I take my coffee on the terrace. I check my emails, organize my tasks, make a priority list, review the weekly one.
Then comes the music. A song in my ears, something that gives a little push.
And I begin. I always start with something manageable. A warm-up task. Like this article, for example.
Sometimes, starting small is what brings you back to life.
We don’t always have to begin perfectly. We just have to begin.
Anyway… are you having a good morning?
