Isis’ Journey #6

L’écho de Xéna

Xena’s echo

Xena wouldn’t leave Isis. Though she no longer saw her, she was there,  in every place she went.

XENA :

Xéna attendait encore. Elle y croyait. Isis reviendrait. Elle s’en sortirait.

Xena was still waiting. She believed in it. Isis would come back. She would make it through.

It had been four years now since she had met her.

And from the start, she had fallen in love with that delicate and luminous soul.

Isis had this gift: she could make you travel in an instant.

She revealed the universe, the colors, love, and poetry, just through her way of being.

Xena hadn’t approached her right away.

Elle l’admirait de loin. Elle la dessinait.
She admired her from afar. She drew her.

She wrote poems for her, hoping one day she could make her read them.

Elle avait 23 ans.

She was 23 years old.

Tall, with dark brown hair falling to her shoulders.

Eyes somewhere between black and almond.

And pale pink lips one longed to brush with a touch.

Elle vivait sur Terre, bien sûr.

She lived on Earth, of course.

But sometimes, she dreamed of joining Isis, wherever she had gone.

Xena organized fairs, sales, exhibitions for forgotten artists.

But no work ever amazed her as much as Isis’ paintings.

Those, she wouldn’t have sold for anything in the world.

The first time she spoke to her, everything floated around her.

C’était trop beau pour être vrai.

It was too beautiful to be true.

And when Isis truly acknowledged her, later on, Xena was over the moon.

For the first time, she thought: She’s going to stay.

Puis Isis est partie.

Then Isis left.

Et Xéna a pleuré.

And Xena cried.

Comme toujours, silencieusement.

As always, silently.

Sans personne pour l’épauler.

With no one to hold her.

Mais ce n’était pas grave.

But it didn’t matter.

Parce qu’au fond, elle savait :

Because deep down, she knew:

Elle reviendrait.

She would come back.

LE MARCHÉ AUX ARTS :

THE ART MARKET :

Isis wasn’t used to crowds, but she never missed the Art Market. She never sold anything there, preferring to buy what moved her and to dive into the exhibited pieces. For some unknown reason, this market always reminded her of Xena.

Each time she walked through the bustling aisles of the Art Market, Isis felt her heart race. The atmosphere was brimming with creative energy: artists’ laughter, visitors’ excited voices, the spontaneous songs of a street musician. The stalls overflowed with vibrant canvases, daring sculptures, and shimmering handcrafted jewelry. A soft scent of fresh paint floated in the air, mingling with the roasted coffee aroma from a nearby stand.

Isis loved lingering in front of each piece, admiring the passion conveyed in each brushstroke, talking with the creators always eager to speak of their craft. For her, the Art Market was more than a place to pass through: it was a magical rendezvous where she drew endless inspiration, and where every visit promised new and unexpected discoveries.

There were artists of all kinds there: painters, embroiderers, illustrators, designers, poets, writers…

All the works came from emerging or forgotten creators, as if this place gathered the souls the world had failed to see.

It was held on the top two floors of a twenty-story circular building, tall as a cathedral: The Colossal.

They said it slowly turned on itself.

The Colossal was a world unto itself: at once a shopping mall, bookstore, café, pub, cinema, and ephemeral art salon.

It had been built in the heart of the historic center, among older, more modest buildings.

Its imposing, almost cubist appearance had initially caused a scandal.

The locals, deeply attached to the gothic atmosphere of Prisxia, had protested.

But over time, they had grown to love it.

And today, the Colossal had become the locals’ favorite place.

A place where people came to eat, dance, shop, read, dream, create.

She had never truly reflected on why this place moved her so deeply.

Perhaps because it resembled the world she carried within her: a world of art, excess, forgotten beauty.

Perhaps also because, without knowing it, she was walking in Xena’s footsteps.

She had never said it aloud, but every time she roamed the Art Market, it was Xena she came to find.

Ou du moins, son écho.

Or at least, her echo.

Everything in that place still vibrated with her: the walls, the paintings, the scents. Xena had left something invisible yet persistent behind.
