The land of wonders : Norway

On my trip to Norway

Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlige klær – There is no bad weather, only bad clothing.

Norway is a land of quiet wonders.

I’ve just returned from Bergen, and my heart is still echoing with the beauty I found there. It was my second journey to this northern realm. The first led me to Kristiansand and Oslo, and now Bergen has left its mark on me.

The landscapes speak in silence, yet say so much. Fjords stretch like ancient poems carved by time, and the skies seem to breathe with the rhythm of the sea. The people, often described as distant, are anything but. In their calm presence, I’ve found warmth, kindness, and a quiet generosity. They may not speak in small talk, but they speak with sincerity, and that, to me, is far more precious.

My first voyage was born of learning, a university project in collaboration with the University of Agder in Kristiansand. I wandered into Oslo, curious and wide-eyed. This second time, I came for a conference in Bergen, and once again, I left richer in knowledge and in human connection.

There is something in Norway that calls to me, a whisper in the wind, a pull in the soul. I hope that one day I’ll have the chance to live and work there, even if only for a few years. I feel the country still has stories to share with me, lessons to teach, and beauty to reveal.

Twice I’ve fallen in love, not just with the place, but with the feeling it awakens in me. Of course, France is my home, and my heart will always return to it. But sometimes the soul needs to wander, to breathe a different air, to dance to another rhythm, if only for a little while.

And so I carry Norway within me, like a quiet melody that plays between the moments. A place where nature speaks, and silence welcomes. A place I hope to return to, not just as a visitor, but as someone who belongs.

Stavanger, Tromsø, I’m coming. There’s still so much of Norway I need to feel, to see, to understand.
