Where light could not reach, she built her own dawn.
In the darkness of her soul,
she found repentance.
She left the twilight zone,
unable to reach the light,
a bit too high,
so she stayed suspended
between the worlds.
She painted her own,
made of purple and grey,
colors dancing as shadows,
shadows waving as presences.
She sent them to other worlds
and created a bridge
where souls could communicate.
The shadows absorbed all emotions.
With them, she painted new sceneries.
She could welcome a guest;
any lost soul could come for a rest.
They left her letters before choosing between spheres.
One said:
” Oh, how it hurts to be human
in a parade.
Oh, how it hurts to be me
in a crowd.
The light of the day burns my eyes,
the dark of the night soothes me,
until I cry.
Now I have to choose,
for being lost is no better.
I can’t feel anymore.
Your shadows have taken it all.
I dream of the sun caressing my cheeks
and brightening my mind,
as it does my eyes.
I dream of the night enveloping me.
That’s where I breathe.
I choose to become energy.
I will leave humanhood.
I will not go to twilight,
and certainly not to daylight.
I will find the cosmos and travel far,
become one with the stars
that brighten the night,
just enough for a spark,
while the dark overcomes everything.”
And so the soul left to reach that place.
She painted her upon one of her walls and fell in love.
The soul was beautiful,
and her pain, nutritive.
Yet she wished her peace,
the peace she had searched for through all her misery.
Her walls became full of lost souls.
Some disappeared into a greater purpose,
others chose the dark,
and a few returned to light, transformed.
She loved them all.
