Final Version of “The Light In Your Eyes”

Hello everyone,

You might have read different versions of The Light In Your Eyes here before, I’ve reworked this poem several times, trying to find the version that truly carried my voice.

The first version appeared in my post:

The second and third were part of:

And finally, here is the fourth version, the one that feels the most alive to me:

Slow Monday,
sky rinsed grey.
You took the light
and kept it in your eyes,
shifting from bright to dark
without warning.

One look,
and my heart decided:
melt or freeze.

Sun rose.
I woke inside my skin.
You smiled that crooked half-smile
I already knew by heart.

You held my gaze
a second too long,
and I crossed a thousand rooms
without moving.

Moon came back.
My eyes filled, almost.
You saw it,
touched it,
played.

I never stopped wanting more.
It hurt exactly like addiction.

I loved you
in the dark,
in the anger,
in every crack.

What do you think about it?
Which version spoke to you the most,  the first, the submission version, or this final one?
I’d love to read your thoughts and impressions in the comments below.
